The Check

SafeBae's Vibe Check, a free decision tree for young men who may have crossed a consent line, has been used by more than 60,000 people since April. A use is not proof anyone changed.

The Check

Drew Davis counted uses. He did not count apologies that stuck.

Drew Davis was reading Reddit and did not like the advice young men were giving each other after they had crossed a line. He works with SafeBae. The tool he built is called Vibe Check. It is free. It is a decision tree, not a chatbot. The team says they refused an AI layer because chatbots often affirm the harmful question instead of answering it.

The tree walks someone through a scenario where consent may have been violated. The exercises, drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy, ask for a reflection, a boundary, and an apology. It can also be used to prepare for a disciplinary process. Davis told Positive News, published 26 October 2026, that the point is a route to responsibility that is not a pile-on and not a denial.

The article's body, retrieved on 28 October, says more than 60,000 people have used the tool since it launched in April. A search snippet of the same URL said 94,000. We use 60,000. The largest audience outside the United States is the United Kingdom. The site is checkyourvibe.org.

Davis said the feedback has been positive on the practical skills: how to apologise, how to own it, how to walk into a process. He also said a less combative process can be less harmful for the person who was hurt. That is his claim. It is not a measured outcome.

There is no independent study in the piece. A use is a page view or a completed path. It is not proof that anyone changed what they did the next weekend. Most resources in this field are written for survivors. This one is written for the person who may have done the harm. That is the unusual part. It is also the part that can be oversold.

Do not describe an assault. The picture is a person at a laptop, and a branching page, not a courtroom.

Why This Matters

The manosphere is a distribution system for the wrong apology. A free tree that tells someone to own the harm is a small counter-system. The number of opens is not the number of amends.

What We Don't Know Yet

Which usage figure is current. Whether any user changed behaviour. Whether survivors experience the disciplinary-prep path as safer, or as a script for minimising. SafeBae's own decade of youth work is context, not a trial.
