Europe's Drug Advisers Back a Pancreatic Cancer Pill That Added Months

EU drug advisers backed daraxonrasib for metastatic pancreatic cancer after a phase 3 trial reported median survival of 13.2 months versus 6.7 on chemotherapy. The Commission has not yet authorised it.

Europe's Drug Advisers Back a Pancreatic Cancer Pill That Added Months

13.2 months versus 6.7. The Commission has not signed.

On 15 October 2026 Revolution Medicines said the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use had adopted a positive opinion on RASONQUE, the brand name for daraxonrasib. It is a once-daily tablet. The proposed use is adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have already had at least one drug regimen. Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is the common form of the disease, usually found late, and chemotherapy is still what most people are offered when the first treatment fails.

The opinion leans on RASolute 302, a phase 3 trial. In the intention-to-treat population, the company reported a 60 percent reduction in the risk of death compared with chemotherapy, a hazard ratio of 0.40, with a 95 percent confidence interval from 0.30 to 0.53. Median overall survival was 13.2 months on daraxonrasib against 6.7 months on chemotherapy. The interval around 13.2 months runs from 10.0 months to a value the trial could not yet estimate. The interval around 6.7 months runs from 5.8 to 8.0. The company said the survival benefit showed up across RAS mutation types, not only in one genetic slice. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the same drug on 26 August 2026. Europe is a step behind that, on purpose: a CHMP opinion recommends, and the European Commission authorises.

Six extra months at the median, in a disease this lethal, is a real number. It is not a cure, it is not first-line treatment, and the upper end of the new median is still open. Rapid fire can hold the comparison. A full segment would have to pretend the Commission has already acted.

Key Facts

  • Company statement: 15 October 2026
  • CHMP positive opinion for daraxonrasib (RASONQUE) in metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma after at least one prior therapy
  • Phase 3 RASolute 302: hazard ratio for death 0.40 (95 percent CI 0.30 to 0.53)
  • Median overall survival 13.2 months versus 6.7 months
  • FDA approval: 26 August 2026
  • A CHMP opinion is not a European Commission decision

Why This Matters

Metastatic pancreatic cancer rarely produces a clean survival split in a phase 3 trial. This one has a hazard ratio and a median a person can picture. The picture still needs the word "opinion" in it.

What We Don't Know Yet

Whether the Commission will follow the committee, on what label, and when. The 13.2-month median may move because the confidence interval has not closed. Side-effect detail for a European label is not in the press note this desk used. This is not a result for people whose cancer has not already been treated.
