The Teams
Angola is vaccinating a target of 10.9 million children against polio, measles, and rubella from 23 to 27 October 2026. Yellow fever is limited to Luanda and Icolo e Bengo. Coverage is not in yet.
Ten million children. Four days. Yellow fever is not in every province.
On 23 October, Angola's vice president, Esperança Maria Eduardo Francisco da Costa, launched a national integrated vaccination campaign in Luanda. It runs through 27 October. The World Health Organization said more than 10 million children would be offered polio, measles, rubella, and yellow fever shots.
Alda de Sousa, national coordinator of the Expanded Vaccination Programme, told Radio Nacional de Angola the target is 10.9 million children. Oral polio is for under-fives, and it is door to door. Measles is for children from 9 months to 9 years. Yellow fever, she said, is only for that same age band in municipalities of Luanda and Icolo e Bengo. It is not a national yellow-fever round.
WHO said the operation uses more than 77,000 health workers, volunteers, and community leaders, in more than 11,000 teams. Ver Angola put the workforce at 77,269 agents and 11,300 teams. Both figures are in print. Border districts with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Namibia also give injectable polio, coordinated with campaigns on the other side of the line.
The campaign is still running on the morning of 27 October. A launch is not a coverage figure. WHO's round number and the coordinator's exact target are both plans.

Why This Matters
The number is a plan being walked, not a result. The picture is a team at a door. The limit is the part that keeps the number honest: yellow fever is not in every province, and nobody has a coverage figure yet.
What We Don't Know Yet
How many children were actually reached by the morning of 27 October. Whether secondary copy is keeping the yellow-fever geography. Coverage will not be known on the last morning of the campaign.
